No One
copyright 1985 by Victor Compton

The Law on the Street is the knife and the gun
wandering the alleys with your pockets full of none
Counting your collection of  places left to run
And, no one wants a stranger, 'cause
They can see the danger.....in your eyes.

The cops know the look and they follow you around
You feel so  disconnected that you jump at every sound.
The City takes a pound of flesh, then takes another pound
And, no one wants to love you
they just push and shove you.....with their lies.

chorus:  And there is no one, on whom you can rely
And there is no one to hear you say goodbye.

The track of the cat is the tooth and the claw
City life is meaner than the Jungle ever saw.
So, you take a bite of it and learn to like it raw.
And no one wants to see you,
They just want want to speak.....with your disguise.

chorus:

Thinkin'  'bout the Movement and the women and the cost
Lookin' for Salvation like a wallet that you've lost
Measuring the space between the bosses and the bossed
And no one wants to know you
They just want to show you.....like a prize.
