Those Old Nashville Blues
copyright 1987 by Victor Compton

Well, the night has arrived.  Soon the streets will be filled,
and the whiskey will flow, and some tears will be spilled.
Oh, and he'll make the rounds and he won't refuse
A drink to forget, those old Nashville blues.

There's a bright neon sign, exploding with light
and a man on the street, who's been drinkin' all night.
He is fightin' the Bottle, but I think he'll lose.
It's plain that he's got, those old Nashville blues.

chorus :  Old music town, city of dreams
Not every song is all that it seems,
"Cause some reach the top and they stay in the news....
But some just receive.....those old Nashville blues.

Well, the crowds part like waves when the man staggers by,
and somebody whispers, "That's how Legends die!"
But not one among them, could stand in his shoes
and carry the weight.....of those old Nashville blues.
